On 28 November, a very successful 60s MUSIC NIGHT was held at the Ilfracombe Town Football Club. A free minibus up and home was provided thanks to David Roberts. Music provided by Roy was spot on for us to sing along and dance to, lovely refreshments provided by Julie and Allan, whole event including raffle organised by Sylvia. Thanks to every one. £330 was raised for the Community minibuses and a good night had by all.
On 29 November, two minibuses took people for a most enjoyablemeal at The Royal Hotel, Bideford and then on to St John’s Garden Centre in Barnstaple where youngest passenger Abbi met Father Christmas.
On 18 November and 2 December, two more groups went for a meal at The Crealock Arms, Littlehampton which they enjoyed very much, followed by a visit to Atlantic Village, which surprisingly was very quiet.
A new group of users, the Focus group, spent a morning on Exmoor on 4 December stopping for coffee and later for lunch at The Old Station Inn, Blackmoor Gate. They drove to Simonsbath, over Brendon Common up to Lynmouth and the Valley of the Rocks. This was a first trip out for a number of the passengers.
On Monday 7 December, 15 passengers visited South Molton Christmas Tree Festival held in the parish church – what a magnificent display of 109 highly decorated trees! Fantastic. After refreshments in the church, they went to the Coaching Inn for lunch. Another nice day out.
On Friday 11 December a group of young ladies used the minibus to go into Barnstaple for a “pampering session”. And in the evening , the Community Minibuses supported the Ilfracombe Town Football Club’s Fun Quiz to raise money towards a stair lift up to the Club Room. Quizmaster was ready and waiting.
Also in the Torridge area – Westward Ho!, Bideford, Hartland and Torrington – groups went out on Friday “Going Out and About Trips”. New schedule for January is available from Shirley Jones, 01271 863630.
